Whether you’re giving a presentation at work, delivering a speech at school, or even presenting at a conference, public speaking is a skill everyone needs to master.

I invited Brenden Kumarasamy to be a guest on Mind The Innovation Leadership Podcast and to discuss how to improve your public speaking.
The best communicators on the planet go quickly and slowly at the same time.
The Importance of Strong Public Speaking Skills
Public speaking is important because it teaches you how to communicate effectively with others. Whether you’re giving a speech to your boss, your class, or your friends, learning how to speak publicly is a valuable skill. It also helps you gain confidence in yourself and your abilities. And finally, it teaches you how to interact with different kinds of audiences, which is something that you’ll need to do throughout life.
If you want to improve your ability to speak publicly, here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. Start early
You don’t necessarily need to spend hours practicing every day. In fact, starting out too late can actually hinder your progress. Instead, start small. Begin by reading articles online or listening to podcasts related to public speaking. Then, practice reading aloud. Next, try writing down key points and practicing delivering speeches. Finally, record yourself and listen to your speech. If possible, find someone else to give feedback.
2. Be prepared
Make sure you know the topic ahead of time. Also, prepare notes. These notes should include the main points you plan to make, along with supporting information. They should also contain a list of questions you might ask during your presentation.
Why Is Public Speaking Important?
Being good at public speaking shows self-confidence and credibility. People like to hear other people’s opinions about themselves or their ideas, especially when those opinions are positive. A person who speaks well is usually perceived as intelligent and knowledgeable. This makes it easier to persuade others to buy what you’re selling.
A strong presentation is an effective sales tool because it allows customers to see how much you know about your product. When you speak confidently about your product, people tend to believe you. They’ll trust you more and be willing to try out your product.
Public speaking is important for anyone who wants to make money in today’s world. If you want to start a business, become a politician, or run for office, having a great reputation in front of large groups of people is essential. You need to be able to communicate effectively in order to succeed.
Daily word exercises are great for improving your public speaking skills. By practicing every day, you’ll eventually feel comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people. While you may never be able to speak in front of thousands of people, you can still gain confidence by regularly practicing. There are many different ways to practice public speaking, such as writing speeches, reading scripts aloud, and recording yourself giving presentations. Once you’ve mastered these techniques, you’ll be ready to take on any challenge!
